Hi Pam,
That's a wonderful picture--quite a heart warmer!

This looks like a hummingbird's nest. Is it? In my country, the hummingbirds would incorporate cotton from the wild cotton trees into their nests. I never knew whether the mosses on the outside grew there or were woven into the structure by the birds. thank you for this photo which brings back good memories of childhood.

Thanks, Lené. I photographed it from a fair distance so I wouldn't disturb the mother. I didn't realize there were babies in there until I enlarged the photo :)

verdunoisette - Thank you for commenting on Whorled Leaves. We love to get comments. This is an Anna's Hummingbird nest in Tucson, Arizona. They also line their nests with soft materials. I'm not sure what she's decorated it with along the edge, but It's really elegant, isn't it? I'm glad it stirred your childhood memories.
